By Stephen TADAHA

Urban transport fare in Cameroon have been increased by 15% in response to the increase in the prices of petroleum products.

This is the major resolution arrived at during a concertation meeting between some trade union organizations in the transport sector and the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana in Yaoundé.

The concertation meeting which included the Ministries of labour and social security, transport, water and energy resources, and the Hydrocarbons Price Stabilization Fund, falls in line with measures taken to absorb the impact of the increase in the prices of petroleum products on the population.

Taxi transport fares during the day in towns now go from FCFA 300 to FCFA 350 and from FCFA 350 to FCFA 400 at night.

For interuban transport, a tarification of FCFA 16 per km was adopted.

The measures according to the Ministry of trade, will go a long way preserve the interests of both consumers and transporters.
